Hardwood options and benefits

Solid hardwood flooring is probably most popular for its amazing life span, and the fact that it can be refinished several times. The refinishing process brings your flooring back to a brand new look, which adds to the overall life span. The process also offers the opportunity to change stain colors and finishes, for a truly brand new floor appearance.

Engineered flooring is another wood option, however, it offers only a veneer of real wood atop a core and backing material, and topped with a protective wear layer. It can still be refinished a couple of times before needing to be replaced. The biggest benefit to this type of hardwood flooring, is that it does not react to many of the same things solid wood does. For instance, it can be placed in basements and other below grade spaces, where solid wood can’t go. It doesn’t react to temperature changes or humidity and moisture, so it’s a great option for these spaces.

Solid hardwood gives you a plethora of options, so that you are able to turn your flooring into something completely unique to your own needs. You can choose from:

  • Various species with various levels of hardness
  • Different stain colors
  • A variety of finish options, including glossy, distressed, etc.
  • Various board lengths and widths
  • Prefinished or on-site finished
