So you're in the market for new flooring. You've decided on luxury vinyl. Congratulations! But there are two formats, tile, and plank. At Your Flooring Warehouse, we get this question a lot. So we can answer it for you.
The luxury vinyl tile (LVT) comes in tile format, large or small. The tile is stiffer than the plank format. In addition, you have the option of getting grout with the tile to enhance the visuals.
Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) comes in long strips. They are flexible and mold well to the subfloor. The strips are of varying lengths.
LVP and LVT are, in some respects, very similar. They both bring outstanding durability to the floors in your home. They both have a top layer to them that is resistant to scratches, nicks, and fading. The wood-look comes in a plank format, but the tile format carries the tile, stone, and brick. Both of them come in a plethora of colors and styles, and patterns. Both have a composite layer that is plastic. The core is made of PVC, standard construction material, and resistant to water at 100%.
Ultimately, it comes down to your preference for your floors. Do you want a tile look or a stone look? Do you want a brick look? Then LVT is your best choice. Or do you want to have a cherry wood look, with whorl and grains like cherry wood? Or oak? Or ash? Then LVP is what you are going to need.
