The waterproof nature of luxury vinyl flooring

The waterproof nature of luxury vinyl flooring

Especially if you have a large family with kids and pets, you'll want flooring that can stand up to anything. That includes having waterproof capabilities.

Luxury vinyl tile or plank–the two forms of luxury vinyl flooring–are waterproof and kid-and-pet proof.

Waterproof vs. water-resistant

Many use these terms interchangeably, but they couldn't be more different! A waterproof product, like luxury vinyl, is made of 100% waterproof materials.

There are no special coatings to help it along. As a result, it is inherently impervious to liquid, whether submerged or spilled on.

Water-resistant means it will repel products for a short time. Unless wiped immediately, however, it will break through the barrier, soak and stain.

Water-repellent & durability: the co-dependent relationship

When something's impenetrable to liquid, there's nothing to create the need for the replacement of your luxury vinyl plank or tile. So there is no soaking, rippling, peeling, or curling edges.

Also, these floors come with a transparent melamine wear layer. They prevent scuffs, scratches, and stains from damaging the floors. They also keep spills from absorbing!

Other benefits include:

1. Affordable, high-end style: This product offers nature-inspired, true-to-life images of wood, stone, and tile. The floors have depth, dimension, and textured looks.

The material is cut into long planks to mimic hardwood floorboards. Alternatively, it is cut into square, tile-sized pieces.

2. Low maintenance. It only takes regular sweeping or periodic mopping to keep your LVP or LVT flooring in top shape.

3. Easy installation: The floors can either be glued or installed to float.
